Long Approach Bar Drawing Dies:

Long approach dies are designed for high elongations (reduction in cross sectional area). The insert is typically 30% longer than those for the same bore range in the standard die range. The long pellet accommodates the high reduction by ensuring that the incoming feed makes first contact with the die well into the approach zone. This eliminates die or material damage which could occur with standard dies where the incoming bar may make contact with the die right at the entrance to the die, preventing adequate lubrication.
